laura mercier translucent setting powder

Hey babes, Happy Monday! I’m finally starting to feel like my skin is getting back to its normal self. If you’ve been following along, you know that I have combination skin and my oil glands have been working overtime lately to combat the dryness. It’s been a real struggle to keep my face looking fresh when it really just wants to be a grease bucket. That’s why I’m I’m currently obssessed with the Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder! ***Funny story, I went to a spa party a few months ago at Hand & Stone (see the full post here) and the esthetician was doing a skin analysis on me and she actually grimaced and shuddered at my oily skin LOL I was like “bish, get that look off yo face right now!” That’s when you know it’s bad, your esthetician doesn’t even want to touch your face lol #sadday

Shop these Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder Products!

The Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder (available here) that I received complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes has been a life saver recently. I received this product in their regular translucent shade (it also comes in Medium Deep) and I am so in love. This setting powder is very finely milled and feels silky smooth and almost velvety when you apply it to your face. It provides sheer coverage, which I actually like because I wear mostly BB and CC creams. The finish is very matte, but the product is definitely not drying and it doesn’t make your makeup look cakey whatsoever!

I also received the Laura Mercier Velour Puff (available here) along with the setting powder, and I must say the puff is not my favorite. Honestly feel like it’s too big of a puff – if it were smaller, I would definitely use it. I also wish the packaging (which is actually really lovely) had a spot to hold the puff, like a compact. The benefit of using the puff however, is that you can hand wash it with mild soap, or you can throw it in the washer inside a lingerie bag (so it is easier to clean than a brush or a Beauty Blender). It does have 4.1 out of 5 stars on Sephora.com, but for me personally, I prefer to just use a sponge if I’m using the powder to bake my face, or a powder brush if I want an all over finish.

Worth the Price?

As far as price goes, the setting powder is $38.00 for 1 oz of product. I think this price is pretty fair for the quality of the product. It’s definitely something I would spend my own money on. I’ve tried 2 other brands of setting powder (NYX Cosmetics Studio Finishing Setting Powder Translucent Finish – available here for $9.99 / Mary Kay Translucent Loose Powder – available here for $16.00), and the Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder is definitely the best.

I hope you guys enjoyed this review of the Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder and Velour Puff! Have you tried this setting powder before? If not, what brand of setting powder is your fav/go-to? Let me know in the comments!
