Hey lovelies! Last night was the Portland Fashion and Style Awards event at the Portland Art Museum in downtown Portland. I thought it was going to be a pretty cool event, especially right when I got there because there was a red carpet area for photos and a fun bar upstairs.

I went with my fashion blogger friend, Rachel, from the blog One Pot Slop and one of her other girlfriends.

My honest opinion though? It was kind of boring. There was a fashion show and then the winners of the different categories were announced (I was really hoping they would have a Best Blogger category, but they didn’t! Maybe next year 🙂 ). I just felt like it was a little chaotic during the awards show, and it was extremely difficult for me to stay interested because of it.

As a recap for those of you who are interested, here are the categories and nominees (I highlighted a couple of the winners in pink, but I didn’t stay for the whole show cause, you know, a girl’s gotta eat and there was no food there!):

Also, since this is a fashion blog and I’m talking about a fashion event that I went to, it’s only right that I share what I wore to the event ;).

express-dress

I’ve been waiting to wear this dress for several weeks now (available here). I ordered it from Express probably about a month ago, and it’s been hanging in my closet just waiting to be worn. Can anyone guess why I love it???

If you guessed “because it’s comfortable” then you’re 100% correct. I literally do not buy anything that is not comfortable (or at least no uncomfortable) to wear. This dress is comfortable AND sexy, so basically it’s the perfect LBD.

I’ve been wearing the crap out of these pumps lately too (one sale here!). These are my handy-dandy go-to basic black pumps from Nine West that I am in love with. Again, super comfortable – I can wear these all day long and my feet won’t be killing me when I get home.

For my outerwear I really wanted to wear a super long trench coat, because there is something so sexy about heels and a trench (am I wearing anything underneath? You’ll never know…lol) with a fitting dress. Buuut I unfortunately have not found the perfect one that I have to have (although I’ve linked one here from Lulu’s that I’m considering purchasing). So instead, I wore my black leather jacket from Bar III to add a bit of edge to my look (similar here).

Ok, so, the purse. I got this purse from Boho Betty and it is so stinkin’ cute! I love the beaded detail and it’s the perfect size to carry my phone, business cards, gum, and a few extras. I love that it also has a clasp so I could attach a should strap to it if I wanted to. If you guys like this purse you can purchase it here! Make sure you use my 15% off discount code BLISTBLOG when you shop!

Since my look was pretty sexy, I decided to keep the jewelry simple, with a plain gold chain necklace and stud earrings (similar here and here). You can get these basic pieces anywhere, but my favorite store to shop for them is Charming Charlie’s because it’s pretty inexpensive. If you guys have a different favorite place to shop for basic jewelry pieces, let me know in the comments so I can check them out!

xo,
