Top 5 Fall Denim Trends

The number one staple item in almost everyone’s wardrobe, is denim. Denim jeans, skirts, jackets, and even tops are so classic and versatile, they’re always on trend. I definitely have a few denim pieces in my closet that I absolutely love and wear on repeat all season. My favorite thing about denim though? Definitely the way you can mix it up. Lately, we’ve been seeing things like frayed edges and embroidery on our denim, and I’m loving it! It’s so inspiring to see brands and designers taking denim to the next level with these trends, and in this post, I want to show you the top 5 fall denim trends I’ve noticed that are definitely here to stay.

Top 5 Fall Denim Trends

Fall Denim Trends

#1 – Embroidery

Embroidery has been all over our clothes this past summer, and it’s not stopping for fall OR winter. The trend I’ve been seeing this fall revolves around the style from the 70’s, and embroidered denim fits right in. Here are a few of my favorite embroidered denim pieces I’ve had my eye on for awhile:

#2 – Mom Jeans

“Mom jeans” have historically been associated with a negative stereotype of being unfashionable and unflattering. This season, they’re all the rage. Contemporary designers have brought this jean style back with a twist. You’ll still see the classic high-waist and relaxed fix, but they’ve elevated the style by mixing in cropped cuts and deconstructed hems (both of which are also very popular this season). I have to confess, I’m all about the mom jean trend! It totally gives me this IDGAF vibe, especially when paired with a fitted cropped t-shirt or sweater and a trendy hat!

#3 – Pearl Details

Embroidery isn’t the only detail we’re finding on our denim this season. You’ve probably seen me in this pearl skirt from Zara, but I’m also obsessing over adding pearls to denim as well. My favorite pairing is actually cropped “mom jeans” with pearl details, as it adds a feminine twist to an otherwise basic jean style.

#4 – Flared Bottoms

Another fall denim trend that feels like a blast from the past is flared bottoms. These made a quick comeback in the early 2000’s with the hip-hugger phase, but this time it’s different. I’ve been seeing a lot of high-waisted dark wash with nautical gold buttons and wide bottoms, as well as light and acid wash flares. Both styles are incredibly chic and trendy for this fall season!

#5 – Distressed Hem

Last but certainly not least and quite possibly my favorite fall denim trend, is the frayed or distressed hem. I have a pair of frayed hem Mother Denim jeans that I wear all the time and love, but this pair from Articles of Society is my fav hands down. The fabric is soft and stretchy, they fit just below my natural waist, and the asymmetrical deconstructed hem is SO fun! I love the peak of ankle you get at the bottom too 🙂 Also, how perfect is this olive green color for fall?!
