mini life crisis

Last month I went on a weekend trip to Venice Beach in LA and I had SO MUCH FUN. Seriously you guys, it was one of the best weekends I’ve had in a long time! I went with my BFF and travel buddy, Lisa, and we did quite a bit in the 2 nights we were there! I was also lucky enough to have some followers give me a few recommendations, and I must say they were on point. I would definitely recommend all of the places we went to! So if you have a trip coming up and want to know what to do in Venice Beach, just keep reading!

Eat:

Larry’s – OK, so I’m not much of a burger girl, but one of my follower’s told me to try Larry’s, and since we were staying right across the street, how could we resist?? Girrrrl…literally THE BEST burger of my LIFE! No joke, if you go to Venice Beach it would be a crime not to stop in to Larry’s and get the Larry’s Burger (with added avocado!). Also, if you’re craving something sweet, we really loved the Chocolate Cake (marshmallows AND vanilla ice cream?! Yes, please!).

The Venice Beach Bar – if you’re walking the boardwalk and just really want to stop for a good drink and a quick bite, the Venice Beach Bar is your jam. I had a yummy salad and a beer, and Lisa had ceviche. Both were fresh and light (just what we needed after a late night out!).

Moto Azabu Sushi Bar & Grill – we stopped in here for some sushi after getting mani/pedis, and it was so good! I loved all the sashimi, everything tasted so fresh and the service was great 🙂

Stay:

SameSun Venice Beach Backpacker Hostel – this hostel was great! It’s literally right on the beach, the price isn’t bad, and it even includes a small basic breakfast. The location really is the best part, as it’s right on top of a fun bar and right across the street from Larry’s and a few other bars/clubs. The hostel itself was clean, fairly quiet, and fun. There’s a cool lounge that we hung out in after the clubs closed with a bunch of other backpackers. It’s a great way to meet new people from all over the world!

Play:

Venice Boardwalk – there’s literally so much to see just by walking north along the boardwalk from the SameSun hostel. You can rent bikes, walk down to the water, shop around at all the street vendors, or just sit and have a drink while people watching! The weather was beautiful while we were there, and there was plenty to see and do!

Muscle Beach – if you walk south down the Venice Boardwalk from the SameSun hostel, you’ll find Muscle Beach. Here you can basically see a bunch of muscle LOL. People working out is really all it is, but it’s still an interesting and must-see sight!

Townhouse – this was actually our favorite club/bar while we were in Venice! There are two floors and each one has a bar. The upstairs portion was playing a lot of alternative music, while downstairs was hip hop and reggae. The downstairs also used to be a speakeasy, and it has that retro mysterious vibe still! We went there both nights, it was so much fun!

Have any of you been to Venice Beach? This was actually my first time, but I had tons of fun and would definitely go back. I’m going to be heading back to LA on Friday this week, and I’ll be staying in West Hollywood for 2 nights, then over in Chatsworth (barf) for 2 weeks. If you have any suggestions on what to do/see/eat in those areas, please leave me a a comment and let me know! Also, if you have any other ideas for what to do in Venice Beach, leave a comment below!
