bargain shopping tips

Happy Monday! Today I want to share with you loves one of my favorite things – bargain shopping! By now you should know when it comes to clothes, 3 things are important to me: #1 – comfort, #2 – style, and #3 – price! So without further ado, let’s get in to my top 5 bargain shopping tips! 😉

Bargain Shopping Tips

#1 – Shop discount and outlet stores like Nordstrom Rack, Coach, Adidas, etc.

Some of my all-time favorite purchases have been from these stores. I love Nordstrom Rack for cute and trendy pieces because I can find all the latest styles without breaking the bank. Some of my favorite items I’ve purchased from Nordstrom Rack include this beautiful Bobeau wrap dress, these Franco Sarto loafer flats (perfect for the office!), and these jeans! As for Coach and Adidas, in Portland we have outlet and employee stores for a lot of different brands. I’ve found some amazing Coach purses at the Woodburn Coach Outlet store (like this one here). I also buy most of my athletic wear from the Adidas employee store, but they also have an outlet store at the Woodburn Outlets! For discount beauty items, check out Grocery Outlet! I’ve found Neutrogena products that I use every day for a discount, and I read another blogger (here) who found Essie nail polish for $1.99 (compared to $11.00 a pop? Yes please!!). You can see Grocery Outlet’s discounts on the web here!

#2 – Don’t forget about consignment stores!

Seriously though, when I first moved to Portland (right after college), consignment shops were my jam. There’s nothing better than finding the perfect Abercrombie denim jacket for $12.00 #AmIRight?? A few of my favorite consignment shops in Portland include Buffalo Exchange (there’s one on W Burnside and also SE Hawthorne), Consign Couture on N Lombard, and Consigning Women (they have a small shop on NW 11th, and a bigger one in Lake Oswego).

#3 – Sign up for e-mail lists so you can be one of the first to know about special sales!

This one really hits home for me, especially since I just got an e-mail from Old Navy that t-shirts are on sale for $4.00 today only! I was just thinking to myself the other day that I wanted to pick up some new basics (white and black t-shirts/tanks), so this couldn’t have come at a better time! Plus, if you’ve been following me for a while, you know I’m obsessed with Old Navy (as evidenced here, here, and here LOL). You can shop this sale online here!

#4 – Shop online boutiques for designer dupes!

One of my favorite online boutiques is definitely Lulu’s. They have beautiful dresses, designer inspired off-the-shoulder tops, and even trendy handbags and accessories! I’ve purchased several of my favorite pieces from Lulu’s, like this cold-shoulder dress and this rainbow tassel crossbody. I also really like that you can get on the wait list for items that have sold out, and also create your own boutique of pieces you love! Another favorite of mine is ChicWish. They have the most beautiful skirts and dresses, and a lot of their pieces are under $50.00! One of my blogger girlfriend’s from the blog All Glam No Filter shops there a lot, and she has some amazing finds.

#5 – Read blogs for inspiration and great fashion finds!

OK, not to toot my own horn or anything, but bloggers have some of the best bargain shopping tips! When you’re job is to find, photograph, and share the best styles, bargain shopping is a must. That’s why I love to read other blogs for inspiration and to learn about awesome sales and places to shop! Some of my favorites (other than The B-List, of course 😉 ) include One Pot Slop, Carrie Bradshaw Lied, and Lavenda’s Closet. Check these babes out if you love finding great fashion on a budget!

Do you have any bargain shopping tips of your own? I’d love to hear your thoughts, so leave me a comment below!
