instantly look chic

I like putting in the most minimal effort when picking out my outfits and dressing for the day. I DO NOT plan my outfits down to the ‘t,’ or painstakingly match the perfect jewelry, shoes, and bags. Honestly, I’ve always felt that my best looks are ones I throw together five minutes before leaving the house. LOL. There’s something about being under pressure that makes my true fashion sense come out, ya know? Anywho, there are three tips I always keep in mind when getting dressed that helps me stay lazy, but also instantly look chic and pulled together, and I’m sharing them below, so keep reading! #lazygirlsunite

Styling Hacks for the Lazy Girl

Look, there’s nothing to be ashamed of. I’m lazy, you’re lazy, we’re all a little lazy, it’s fine. What’s not OK though? Lookin’ like a lazy bum (unless you’re a mom who don’t GAF and you just want your Jimmy John’s. If that’s you, check this post!). That’s why I wanted to share these tips with you. We’ve all been having one of those days where nothing seems to be going right and we have to rush out the door without a ton of time to focus on what we’re wearing. In those moments, we need to be able to throw something together that both looks good, and makes us feel good.

STYLING HACK #1 – Pair different fits

What I mean by that is, pair tight with loose. For example, skinny jeans with an oversized knit sweater. Mom jeans with a tight crop top. Whatever your style, mix up the fits. One of my favorite cool weather looks is a slouchy sweater with my tried-and-true Spanx pebbled leggings. It’s comfortable and chic, and instantly slimming if you add in a pair of black leather booties or OTK boots.

Another of my faves is this look, where I paired my loose fitting Topshop mom jeans with a tight black crop top. You instantly look chic but also laid back, like you just happened to throw this together and it looks great!

The How-To’s behind Looking Chic in an Instant

Ok, there’s more to styling than just the clothes you wear. It’s about the look as a whole, and that includes hair and makeup. Now, we’ve already established I’m lazy AF, which means I don’t wear a ton of makeup. In fact, all I do on the daily is brush out my bushy brows with clear brow gel (my fave is the Anastasia Beverly Hills), and put on mascara. As long as I do those two things, I feel like my face is in the clear.

I like to wear my hair curly, so I typically use a 1″-1 1/2″ curling wand, break if up into three sections, and curl away from my face. It’s quick, easy, and you don’t have to be super precise because the goal is to just add some body. Which brings me to…

STYLING HACK #2 – It really doesn’t matter what you wear.

Seriously, it doesn’t. If you put even the most minimal effort into your hair/makeup, people just automatically think you’ve got it together. It’s like an optical illusion. Haven’t showered in four days and wearing joggers you picked up off the floor? NBD, just slap on some mascara and throw a curling iron through your hair and you’re good to go, no effort required.

STYLING HACK #3 – The devil’s in the details

My last and possibly best trick to instantly look chic, is about accessories. I already mentioned I don’t put a lot of effort into accessorizing, but what I do do, is have chic accessories that pair with everything. I’m wearing two of them in these photos! The first is a pair of sassy sunglasses. I love Quay Australia in general because they have amazing quality sunglasses for a great price. Fun fact, I also have blue light glasses in the same style, I love them that much LOL.

The second accessory I love for adding a chic element to any look is a pair of nude heels. I prefer a low heel, 1″-2″ because 1.) I’m lazy, and 2.) I’m already tall enough. I got this pair for like, $15 bucks last summer when I was hella prego and needed a comfy heel to wear to my baby shower. I wore them all over NYC for fashion week and didn’t have any issues, they are SO comfortable.

The reason these two accessories are part of my styling hack to instantly look chic, is because they are effortless. Sunglasses add a bit of mystery, and nude heels just make an outfit look easy. I always prefer a nude heel over black because they elongate your leg (get a nude that matches your skin tone), and they’re not too matchy matchy with your outfit.

Which of these tips are you most likely to incorporate into your wardrobe? Let me know in the comments!
