Winter apparel items you should splurge on!

I’m a budget shopper. It’s ingrained in my DNA to always shop sales and look for a bargain. Sometimes this bites me in the butt because I can tend to buy something that is low quality just because it’s less expensive or on sale. For winter apparel however, I know there are a few items worth paying a few extra dollars for, and I will definitely splurge on these items if they are 1.) high quality, 2.) closet staples, or 3.) timeless pieces. I’ve shared the five winter apparel items I will always splurge on below, and I’d love for you to give me more ideas on items you’re willing to pay extra for in the comments below!

Winter Apparel to Splurge on

A REALLY WARM JACKET OR COAT. I live in the PNW so my coat needs to be warm and stand up in wind and rain. I love a good puffer coat and own a mid-thigh length and one that hits at my hips. They’re typically pretty warm (especially if they are down jackets), and usually have room for layering other sweaters and things underneath (another must for someone living the PNW).

BOOTS ARE A MUST if you live somewhere that rains a ton. I personally prefer a mid-calf or higher shaft height to protect my feet from getting wet, but I don’t really like wearing rain boots so I’ve linked some good options below!

TECH GLOVES are also great because they save your fingers from falling off but you can still use your cell phone! My husband wears them a lot when he coaches outside in the winter and I love them for running!

HEAT TECH LAYERING pieces will literally SAVE YOUR LIFE. There are some spendy brands out there that have heat tech gear, but I’ve always been happy with the more affordable brands. I feel like they work pretty well for me and they don’t break the bank. Cuddle Duds (Target) and 32 Degree Heat (Costco) are two of my favorite brands!

JEANS WITHOUT HOLES are something you should invest in anyways, but especially during the winter. What sense does it make to be all bundled up but have your knees freeze off from frostbite? None. I know sometimes denim can look a little boring without holes, but if you get something with a raw hem or in a lighter wash, they can actually make an outfit look super chic!
