Best products for fine hair

I love doing polls on my Instagram because I get to find out exactly what you all are interested in! One thing that really stood out to me last time was all the interest in what I use for my hair! I honestly don’t think I’ve ever shared my hair care routine because honestly, I think we all wash our hair pretty much the same LOL. But we might not all use the same products, or have the same hair type. I have fine hair that tends to be super oily in the roots with dry/brittle ends. It’s literally a constant struggle to find products that will keep my hair nourished without adding to the oil or taking away any volume. I do have a few ride-or-die products for fine hair though, so keep reading to find out what they are and how they work for me!

Styling Products for Fine Hair

There are a lot of products out there that promise to give you volume and make your hair look like Priyanka Chopra’s on a bad day (is anyone else jealous of her luscious locks???). I’m sure there are many products out there that I haven’t tried, but these are the ones I love because they work, they’re affordable, and I’ve been using them for years and change is hard LOL.

  1. Bumble & Bumble Thickening Full Form Soft Mousse – I’ve been using mousse since middle school, but thankfully this one doesn’t cause that super crunchy hair look. I love this B&B mousse because it adds so much volume but still leaves my hair feeling soft, almost as if I didn’t have any product in it at all!
  2. Bumble & Bumble All-Style Blow Dry Cream – this is basically the one-stop-shop, all-you’re-ever-gonna-need, holy-grail of styling products for fine hair. It’s a heat protectant, adds volume, and even has microfine oil-absorbing powders that help fight frizz and extend the life of your blow dry so you can go even longer between washes. Sold yet?? Seriously if you use nothing else on your hair, use this product.
  3. It’s a 10 Miracle Blow-Dry Texture Spray – the other annoying thing about having fine hair is it’s hard to get that sexy bed-head texture. My fine hair is suuuper soft, which is nice, but sometimes I want a little edge, you know? This texture spray is great for that because it actually calms my frizz and adds just the right amount of texture. Plus you only need the smallest amount of product so it lasts a long time!

Washing and Caring for Fine Hair

Using the right styling products for fine hair can make a ton of difference, but you also need to care for your hair in the right way. Unfortunately if you have fine hair you probably can’t use ultra thick, nourishing shampoos and conditioners without looking like a grease bucket several hours later. But you can definitely find hydrating products that won’t turn you into Severus Snape! Here are a few of my faves:

  1. OGX Thick & Full + Biotin and Collagen Shampoo/Conditioner – I love OGX in general because they’re a sustainable beauty brand that doesn’t test on animals, and all their products smell amazing! This line is one of my favorites (especially the shampoo) because it helps my hair appear thicker and fuller!
  2. OGX Anti-Breakage Keratin Oil Shampoo/Conditioner – another OGX line that I love because of the anti-breakage properties. The keratin proteins also help to resist breakage caused by brushing and styling, while argan oil conditions and smoothes! It basically makes your hair stronger and healthier and doesn’t weight it down.
  3. L’Oréal Paris Elvive Extraordinary Oil Rapid Reviver Deep Conditioner – this product is something I use once or twice a week to help repair my hair, especially if I’ve styled it a lot that week. I basically use it in place of my daily conditioner, leave it in for one minute, and voila! My hair has that post-salon healthy feel to it! Also, it’s less than $5 #bonus
